Scott Fat Bikes

Our site: first hit fatbikes through, more and bigger than we could ever imagine. And now + format ready to face the people. We have tested.

Actually you can not say that the plus format is any supernyhet, wide tires and wide rims has been in many years. But when fatbikes a few years ago were kommersialliserat seriously so developed tyres and wheels in a way that made the type of bikes really funny. But for normal forest cycling, most agree that the disadvantages outweigh. But fetingarnas breakthrough meant that several brands began to put powder on “just in time” wide tires, and where everything from hubs, frame, wheels and suspension now has been designed to fit the new format.

The target group is not primarily competing cyclists, with the possible exception of enduro riders. Plus format caters primarily to the bikers who love the saucy cycling where grip, comfort and well-being is more important than the lowest possible weight. Or why not for beginners who want an extremely safe bicycle, where the risk of puncturing considerably decreased.
MTB-tyres for cross country usually have a width of around 2 inches. A fatbike has nearly 5 inches wide tires. The new plus format has a width of 2.8-3 inches. Pretty much exactly halfway between. And simply put the landing cycle properties also in between in the way it behaves, how it feels and reacts.

Scott run entirely on a wheel size is 27.5 inches to her new plus-size. And you can either choose from a hardtail, a heldämpad with 140 mm suspension or heldämpad with 160 mm suspension. Yes, of course, there is also an e-model as well.
But who is actually the senders to the plus format, then? At Scotts bikes are the Schwalbe makes the tires, Syncros that makes wheels and Fox that makes the suspension. Scott has essentially been a project manager, and developed a framework which, together with the various components packaging format in the best way.

We have spent a few moments to test plus the bikes and in the latest issue of the magazine, you can read more about what we think. The short answer is that we welcome mellanfetingarna! For nearly twenty years we have been nagging about MTB cycling becomes a lot more fun with extra fat tires. The nagging, we stand firm on and you get the chance to test, make it fat is fat!

A standard MTB rim is usually around 25 mm wide. The new plus wheels is 40 mm wide, providing another support for the tires and better contact to the substrate.
Genuis 700 Plus, with 140 mm suspension front and rear 130 mm.

Genius 700 LT Tuned Plus has 160 mm suspension front and rear.

Scale 710 Plus is a hardtail with 120 mm front suspension.
Yes, Genius Plus are also available with a new electric motor from Bosch. Sweden is ready to let e-explosion explode among pure mountain bikes? In southern Europe, it has already melted and recently gave rise to the first e-World Championship.

In our last issue, we tested this year’s version of the Genius, also a model we love. But we whined a bit on Twinloc-thumb’s placement on the top. Now we appreciate that Scott listened to us and moved it to the bottom.
Nude called Fox new dampers that have undergone some interesting improvements. The three modes gives either 130 or 90 mm suspension — or a fully latched position. One detail we welcome instead of the earlier climbing mode that never gave adequate locking.

36 mm thick legs on the long-stroke the fork and 34 mm on the kortslagiga. It is good, it is necessary.

Bakgaffeln has become wider, but not so wide that your calves or heels receives.

Scott themselves have summarized the guidelines for when a plus-bike feel best.
