The Empire never ceases to grow. Whenever Inditex presents its accounts of the previous fiscal year, already nobody wondered if it has grown its profit, but what amazing amount it has done. The day chosen for the presentation of the economic balance in 2016 was yesterday, and, once again, the figures have been overwhelming.
23.311 million euros in sales. 13.279 million euros of gross profit. 3.157 million euros of net profit. 7.292 establishments in 93 countries (of which, 279 correspond to new openings). 162.450 employees. Those are the key numbers that define what was 2017 Inditex economically.
In addition, the company wanted to highlight some of the milestones achieved in the last year, as investing in sustainability, social policy (the stores ‘ For and from’, for example) and in technological development (with the introduction of the electronic ticket). In these respects, in addition, the Galician company announced that it plans to invest another 1,500 million euros during the fiscal year 2017.
Also announced upcoming emblematic openings. The most anticipated is the great Zara of Castellana, Madrid, but it will also reopen Opera, Paris, and other flagships in Doha, Bombay or London. Also other brands of the group opened new stores in 2017, as the Pull & Bear of Preciados (Madrid), the Zara Home of Vienna, Zurich or Shanghai or the Stradivarius of Portal del Angel (Barcelona).
In terms of the distribution of benefits by brands, Zara is still the absolute flagship of the Empire Inditex, 15.394 million euros of income and 13% of evolution with respect to 2016. It is followed, in order, Bershka, Massimo Dutti, Pull & Bear, Stradivarius, Zara Home, Oysho and Uterque. All have an average growth of 11.5%, being Zara Home that grows more (16%), and Stradivarius that less (4%).
