Night carp, an exception to the rules of fishing

Night carp fishing is a derogation from the ban on fishing set in art. L.436-13 of the Code of the environment. It determines schedules that must meet the fishermen to fish.

Normally, fishing can begin no earlier than 30 minutes before the sunrise and ending no later than 30 minutes after sunset. This waiver is issued by a prefectoral order. Therefore, the prefect of the Department who decides to grant or not the right to practice night fishing.

Since each prefect may decide to grant this permission, the regulations for fishing carp can varied according to the departments. This means that fishermen from a Department A can fishing at night carp fishermen in Department B cannot.

In departments where night carp fishing is possible, here’s what you need to know if you want to try this practice.

Fishing carp at night, the periods concerned?

In authorized departments, it is possible to fish carp at night between June 1 and October 31, 2015, which corresponds to the seasons of summer and the beginning of autumn. These 4 months you can fish on weekends. ‘Weekend’ is defined as the period from Friday evening to Monday morning. This regulation concerns all forms of fishing of carp including enduros.

Go at night carp fishing: what are the conditions?

As we have seen, regulations for fishing carp of night is defined by the prefect. Anglers fishing this must therefore comply with some regulatory and practical.

Below are the main conditions for night carp fishing in the State of the art!

1 be in possession of a map fishing which allows to have a right of access to fishing at night.

  1. fishing in the areas determined by the prefecture. Each prefect determines the areas affected by fishing at night. This is usually called a “fishing course. The areas are marked and helps the anglers to stay overnight during their fishing session.
  2. return to the water immediately caught carps. This is commonly known as the practice in “no kill”. Indeed, it is forbidden to keep in captivity carp and even carry them.
  3. have a fishing shelter that respects the direct environment. The shelter must be neutral and discreet not to obstruct the animals living around the fishing location. Generally, the shelter of fishing is black or Green Khaki color.
  4. use plant bait, as natural bait. All synthetic bait is prohibited. Bait in the form of living are also prohibited.

6 leave the premises clean and pick up his litter. This last point seems obvious but it is not uncommon to find waste after sessions of some carpistes. Respect for nature is very important to preserve fisheries as well as the flora and fauna. Be a fisherman, is to be a responsible citizen!
