Gather the wealth of Atlantic forest to a sea of crystal clear waters, only the far south coast of the State of Rio de Janeiro, also known as Costa Verde, you can doso well. It is this mixture that makes up the beauty of the crossing of Joatinga, Tip from Parati to the village of orange trees, next to Trinity.

Located on a peninsula which has the format similar to that of a boot, this scriptstarts in the beautiful historic city of Parati, in the State of Rio, almost boundaries with the neighbor São Paulo. The difficult access made the Atlantic forest of the place stayed preserved and today the area is protected by the Cairuçu environmental protection area and the Joatinga ecologic reserve. This is one of the most important protected areas in the South of Rio de Janeiro and it borders the National Park of Serra da Bocaina. The route, usually done in three days, is formed by almost deserted beaches, snow-capped mountains and waterfalls in a green trail of rare beauty.

 

The region’s climate is hot and humid, with an average temperature of 27 degrees. The best time to cross is the summer. Despite the higher temperature, givesmore opportunity to enjoy the beaches, which accompanies the path all the time, in addition to the delightful waterfall baths.

 

The crossing begins in Praia Grande de Cajaíba, whose access is done in 2 hoursby boat from Parati. To get to your home you need to cross the Saco do Mamanguá. There is a Large Beach, crystal clear water and soft sand, inviting to diving and has a private water park, the waterfall of the deserted, hidden at the foot of the Hill, less than two kilometers from the sea. From this beautiful beach, great asthe name implies, it follows to Itaóca, completely deserted Beach, and then to Calhéus. On the second day of hiking destination is Ponta Negra. The first point at whichno more is the beach of Cairuçu, 1 hour walk. After a climb, you can see all the beach destination, almost end of the walk. But to get there we must face a steep descent.
Anyone who wants to give a stretched another day can climb the peak of Cairuçu, from the beach. The trail until there 8 hours delay, round trip, and can only be done with local guide enabled by the community.
