Chad Travel Information
The security situation in Chad varies between
different areas. In the areas northwest of N`Djemena,
along the border with Nigeria and Lake Chad, there have
been a number of attacks from Boko Haram in recent
years. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued travel
advice for the whole of Chad.
The security situation in Chad varies from region to
region. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
travel advice, all trips to the Chad Sea area and all
unnecessary trips to the rest of Chad are not
recommended. Also note that all travel outside the
capital N'Djamena requires permission from the Ministry
of the Interior.
In the areas northwest of N'Djamena, along the border
with Nigeria and Lake Chad, there have been a number of
attacks from Boko Haram in recent years.
In the early summer of 2015, several bombings were
made against police stations in N'Djamena. There are
reasons to fear new terrorist attacks, primarily as a
result of Chad's role in the military fight against Boko
Haram in Nigeria.
It is important that the individual keeps up to date
on the security situation in the country and avoids
areas where unrest is taking place. Norwegian citizens
considering traveling to Chad are encouraged to keep up
to date by keeping up with news and other sources of

difficult to reach during the rainy season, which in the
south lasts from May to October. In central parts of the

police within 72 hours of arrival in the country.
Vaccines: Travelers are encouraged to familiarize

There is a risk of malaria infection throughout the
country, and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health
recommends the use of mosquito bite prophylaxis and drug
